Summary: Eliyana has always recoiled from her own reflection in the mirror. But what if that were only one Reflection—one world? What if another world existed where her blemish could become her strength?
Eliyana is used to the shadows. With a hideous birthmark covering half her face, she just hopes to graduate high school unscathed. That is, until Joshua hops a fence and changes her perspective. No one, aside from her mother, has ever treated her as normal. Maybe even beautiful. Because of Joshua, Eliyana finally begins to believe she could be loved.
But one night her mother doesn’t come home, and that’s when everything gets weird.
Now Joshua is her new, and rather reluctant, legal Guardian. Add a hooded stalker and a Central Park battle to the mix and you’ve gone from weird to otherworldly.
Eliyana soon finds herself in a world much larger and more complicated than she’s ever known. A world enslaved by a powerful and vile man. And Eliyana holds the answer to defeating him. How can an ordinary girl, a blemished girl, become a savior when she can’t even save herself?

I found out about this book from Nadine Brandes, and I am really glad. Sara Ella has done a stupendous job writing this book. and I really enjoyed it. The story was exciting, and I love how Sara Ella mixed our normal, modern world with a totally new world. The story was well paced, and there were a lot of new and creative things throughout the story. The characters were awesome, and I liked how relatable they were.
Eliyana was awesome. She is a girl from our world who is suddenly thrust into a realm full of mythical beasts and an ongoing battle. Because of her birthmark on her face, she has never believed that she is beautiful, and her journey shows her what true beauty is, and that looks don't define you.
Joshua was very sweet. He is one of El's only friends, and does whatever it takes to protect her. His parent's died when he was young, and was raised as a guardian in another realm.
Ky is one of my favorite's. (I think I just like any character that is bad, but kind've good, and ends up one or the other, but you really hope they'll be good.) He lost his sister to the enemy and, after the death of his father, had been doing anything to survive the void that is trying to overtake him.
Different realms, mystical creatures, people with gifts, and an amazing adventure.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
