Summary: In the second volume of Jill Williamson's Kinsman Chronicles, a remnant has escaped the destruction of the Five Realms and now lives on several hundred ships adrift at sea. As a flock, they sail north into the unknown in hopes of finding land that might become their new home.
As the king's illness worsens, SAr Wilek takes authority over the expedition and struggles to rule the disjointed people, while assassination attempts, vicious serpents, and dark magic endanger his life.
One prophecy has come to pass, but another looms dauntingly in the future. Who is this Deliverer? And if the Magonians have him, what might that mean for the realm of Armania?
Review: Would you believe I ended up with three copies of this book before I finally read it? I know, crazy XD Not even sure how I ended up with one of them lol.
I loved Jill Williamson's Blood of Kings series, and was excited to start the Kinsman Chronicles, which take place a few hundred years before. In this book, the Armanians and others are searching for a new land, but there is a danger that is chasing after them.
I love all the characters. My favorite is probably T, but I have loved all the characters Jill has introduced. There were a few different perspectives at the beginning of the series, but as the story goes along, it was just fine keeping in sinc with perspectives changing. The descriptions the author uses to let you experience the land and the people. They aren't long and droning explanations that take forever, but just enough to where she can bring it up every now and then to give you a reminder of what something may look like or how something works. (it's a big book, so it's easy to forget details) Also, How Jill writes series this huge is impressive. I love them and have no clue how I could write anything as large and as amazing as hers. I also love how the books are based of the Old Testament. I loved reading a scene and then being like "I know what story/scene this is based off of!" Her writing also gives you a different experience, and I must say I loved it. I'm looking forward to her next book.
I wouldn't suggest this book for younger readers. There is a lot of darkness in the first and second books, along with many different gods and demons. So an older teen audience for sure. (the author suggests it for 16 and up I believe)
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
I received this book free from Bethany House for an honest review
Sounds interesting! I've been hearing about Jill Williamson's books for many years but have yet to actually read any.
