I Don't Dance -Review and Spotlight

Ty and Jen have been friends for nearly as long as anyone can remember. But when Ty goes off to college and leaves her behind, he has to face the reality that he cares for her as more than just a friend. As graduations approaches and with only one summer left before he begins basic training, Ty must make a decision. Military life is never easy; is it fair to force it on the one he loves? In the midst of wrestling with the question and coming to the realization that summer is quickly drawing to a close, Ty struggles to face questions he cannot answer, and is forced to examine his own heart. Is it possible that God has a future for him with Jen? Or will the summer close with only memories of days gone by? Their relationship would be old fashioned. But that was okay. Because old fashioned and whimsical fit perfectly with a southern summer.

Review:
I really enjoyed Jesseca's newest book. The characters and story were really sweet. It was the same style as her other books, and I really enjoyed the "old-fashioned, whimsical feel."
The romance was light and sweet, and the setting in North Carolina I loved. Totally felt like the south with the descriptions, sweet tea vs. coffee, and the humidity (oh the humidity *give it a stern glare*). Plus there was donuts and music, so how could you not love it? XD
And Ty was the sweetest. I loved how he cared so much for Jen, and Mike's humorous, but at times serious, personality and how he supported his best friend.
If you want a sweet summer romance, definitely check it out. :)

 About the Author: website
Jesseca is a daughter, sister, and a child of God. Her days are spent reading, cooking, spending time with siblings, or playing piano. And writing, of course! At an early age words fascinated her, and her love for the printed page has only grown. She lives with her parents and seven siblings in the sunny state of Kansas, and she’s convinced there’s no place like home.

I Wrote a Short Story + Beta Call!

Okay guys, I'm doing something I've never done before: a beta call O.O *cue music*
I am super excited to share these stories because they're some of my favorites. Originally this post was only going to be for one story, but you get two! I'll have two separate sign up forms below, along with their summaries. We're both looking for people to beta read the story (regular beta stuff like grammar, if it flows, any plot holes, that kind of thing.) and would be super grateful for your feedback.
The first one (and one with a deadline) is The Star's Shadow. It's a story filled with Fae, Shadows, and Stars (*sigh of delight*). I partnered up with Savannah from Inspired Writes to co-write it, and I love it so much.
The second story one is currently titled A.I.Z.E. It is a short story (just over 7k, so a little on the larger side as well). This one I've had sitting in my head for a while, and was able to write it for a school project.

The Star's Shadow
Genre: Fantasy

Word Count: (7.5k)

Summary:

A.I.Z.E.
Genre: Science Fiction

Word Count: 7,291

Summary: Jax has been used to living alone, just him, his ship, and his inventions. Ever since he was young he's lived on the edge of the Outer Rim, scrounging for things to help him survive and evade Testra, a facility that is a lot more advanced than the Rim, and are willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.  After Testra comes after him, he tries to keep a low profile in his space craft, working a 'pirate' like job, though he refuses to acknowledge that term.
When he gets ahold of a new Artificial Intelligence (AI), he ends up with more than he bargains for. The AI is in need of an update that only Testra has, and it leads to an unplanned adventure onto a large transport ship to get the needed information. Finding an unconscious girl while there was not what he was planning on, leaving him with a difficult decision. Will he risk his own freedom to help her, or leave her?

If you're interested, just fill out this handy form I made, and I'll be sending it your way!

Evaporation of Sofi Snow

The Evaporation of Sofi Snow by Mary Weber

Summary: Ever since the Delonese ice-planet arrived eleven years ago, Sofi's dreams have been vivid. Alien. In a system where Earth's corporations rule in place of governments and the humanoid race orbiting the moon are allies, her only constant has been her younger brother, Shilo. As an online gamer, Sofi battles behind the scenes of Earth's Fantasy Fighting arena where Shilo is forced to compete in a mix of real and virtual blood sport. But when a bomb takes out a quarter of the arena, Sofi's the only one who believes Shilo survived. She has dreams of him. And she's convinced he's been taken to the ice-planet.

Except no one but ambassadors are allowed there.

For Miguel, Earth's charming young playboy, the games are of a different sort. As Ambassador to the Delonese, his career has been built on trading secrets and seduction. Until the Fantasy Fight's bomb goes off. Now the tables have turned and he's a target for blackmail. The game is simple: Help the blackmailers, or lose more than anyone can fathom, or Earth can afford.

Review: So my review never got posted, and I'm not really sure how that happened (oops). So here is the rewritten one lol. XP

Really enjoyed this sci-fi read. Evaporation of Sofi Snow was the first book I had read by Mary Weber, and I was drawn in by the futuristic world and the characters. (also, the hardcover of the book has a super cool texture under the dust cover. Just saying XD). I love the mystery as we try to untangle what happened to Sofi and her brother when they were young, and the reason why they have to have so many check-ups. like O.O ??? Also, I really liked Miguel, and just the whole world, and the game. I thought it really unique how the story was set up, and I could almost hear the music as Sofi was struggling to get her brother back and figure out what is really going on. One of the things that really intrigued me about the story was how in this sci-fi world, Mary Weber was trying to bring awareness to sex trafficking, like who would've thought this amazing book would help inform today's youth of the tragic things that people try to hide?!
The story was super intriguing, and I'm excited to see what happens next.

5 out of 5 stars
I received this book free from the publisher for an honest review.
