Saving Amelie

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted a review. But, to get things back into motion, here is a new book I recently got.

From back cover: On a trip to Germany with her father, Rachel Kramer receives a cryptic letter from an estranged friend. Married to SS officer Gerhardt Schlick, Kristine sees the dark tides turning and fears her husband views their daughter Amelie-deaf since birth- as a blight on his Aryan bloodline.

Once courted by Schlick, Rachel knows he's as dangerous as the swastikas that hang like ebony spiders across Berlin. She fears her father, an eminent eugenics scientist, my know about Hitler's plans for others, like Amelie, whom the regime deems unworthy of life. But when she risks searching his classified documents, she also uncovers shocking secrets about her own history and a family she's never known.

Now hunted by the SS, Rachel turns to Jason Young -a driven American journalist and unlikely ally- whose connections to the resistance help Rachel and Amelie escape the city. Forced to hide in Oberammergau, the Baverian village of the Passion Play, Rachel's every ideal is challenged as she and Jason walk a knife's edge, endangering their lives -and asking others to do the same- for those they barely know but come to love.

Saving Amelie Is a great read! Cathy Gohlke did a wonderful job writing this book. Set in Germany during WW2, this exciting book is a wonderful read, and has a hidden and redone Old Testament Bible story in it as well. :)  Through all of Rachel's trials she soon discovers things through the family she never known; Friendship, courage, skills, and joy. But as she and her family, as well as Jason Young, the young American reporter, do all that they can to save Amelie, they all know that time is soon running out. And when it comes down to the last minute, who will be save from the Nazi's cruel hand?

...Danger lurks around every corner. What will the Nazi's do when Rachel discovers the truth about herself and others, and the many that met with horrific deaths?...

This book will have you on your seats edge! Not wanting to put the story down for a moment, and has exciting twist and turns around every page. You get to know each character, and understand how their feeling, and your suspense grows with each daring rescue. As a fan of historical fiction, I really liked this book, and I definitely would suggest this book to you, as it is well written and exciting.
If you love historical fiction, WW2 stories, and the Bible, than this would be a book for you.

I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars
